Legal and safety information
Terms of Use and Disclaimer
TopograpMaps is a free, independent tool for preparing printable topographic maps. By using the website or an output created with it, you accept the conditions and limitations set out below.
1. Purpose and scope
TopograpMaps helps users select an area, map layer, paper size, scale and coordinate grid, and then prepare a PDF or printed map. It does not provide surveying, cadastral, engineering, navigation, emergency-management or legal services.
2. Map data and accuracy
Map content comes from third-party data and services, including OpenStreetMap and OpenTopoMap. These sources may contain omissions, errors, outdated information or differences from conditions on the ground. A feature not appearing on the map does not prove that it is absent.
Coordinates, grid lines, routes, boundaries, place names, terrain details and other map elements must be checked against suitable current and authoritative sources before they are relied upon.
3. Uses requiring authoritative information
TopograpMaps outputs must not be used as an official cadastral plan, title or ownership record, legal boundary determination, engineering or construction document, military product, or certified aviation or maritime navigation chart. They must not replace official information used for emergency response, search and rescue, disaster management or other safety-critical operations.
4. Laws, permissions and restricted areas
You are responsible for complying with the laws and regulations of the country and place where you access, download, print, carry or use a map. This includes rules concerning restricted or sensitive areas, protected areas, private property, access rights, photography, mapping, data use and any permit or authorisation requirements. TopograpMaps does not determine whether a particular use is lawful or permitted.
5. Scale and print verification
Browser, operating-system, PDF and printer settings can change page placement and scale. Select the intended paper size and orientation, use “Actual size” or “100%” when printing, and measure the 100 mm check line on the physical output. Do not rely on the stated scale if that line does not measure exactly 100 mm.
6. Outdoor and safety use
Do not rely on TopograpMaps as your only navigation or safety resource. Conditions, paths, water sources, shelters, roads and access restrictions can change. Use appropriate current official maps and guidance, navigation skills and equipment, local weather and hazard information, and a backup method suitable for the activity.
7. Availability
The website and the third-party services it depends on may be interrupted, changed or unavailable. TopograpMaps does not guarantee uninterrupted access, compatibility with every browser or printer, or that every PDF or print output will be free from technical errors.
8. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, TopograpMaps is not liable for loss or damage arising from reliance on inaccurate, incomplete or outdated map information; an incorrectly scaled or positioned output; service interruption; or use contrary to these terms. Nothing in this notice excludes or limits any responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
9. Third-party rights and licences
OpenStreetMap data is made available under the Open Database License (ODbL), and the OpenTopoMap layer is subject to its stated licence and attribution requirements. Source and attribution notices shown on the website and map outputs must be retained. Use of third-party content may also be subject to the relevant provider’s terms.
10. Changes and contact
These terms may be updated when the service, data sources or legal requirements change. The version published on this page applies from its stated update date.
